He also completed fellowships in Fertility Surgery at Columbia University and Stanford University.

Should I reschedule if I got my period?

If you can wait a few days, it would make your examination more comfortable, and you’ll have no limitations on running any tests. However, if you are in pain or can’t wait, you can still book an appointment and the doctor will examine you.

Can the doctor prescribe a contraceptive pill?

Before adopting a contraceptive method, you need to undergo at least a brief gynecological consultation and examination to determine which contraceptive method is most appropriate.

How can I get the test results back if some tests are performed during the visit?

Once the lab has processed the sample, FirstMed will send you an email with your results. The timeframe for your results to come back is usually 1-2 working days for blood and urine tests and 3-4 working days for swab tests, but may vary based on the type of exam. Please ask the nurse or your medical provider at the time of your appointment how long the results should take.

Can you set up an online consultation with an ob-gyn?

Yes, of course but no need to use Skype. Our proprietary platform allows safe online consultations. Make a request on our website or book “Online” for your gynecological consultation. The doctor can also prescribe medication if needed and after your consultation, it will be sent to you via email by our team.

Will I get the gynecologist give me a prescription?

Yes, if necessary, the gynecologist will prescribe you medicines and you will need to collect the prescription from the front desk with your medical note that you can use to buy medicine you need at any pharmacy.

Is it normal to have vaginal discharge?

Vaginal discharge is your body’s cleansing mechanism. As log as it is clear and milky, it can be considered as normal, but in case you notice a variation in the color, odour or volume (unusually high), it may be a sign of infection. Get in touch with a gynecologist for immediate evaluation.

How frequently should I be tested for STDs?

Depending on how sexually active you are, your doctor will advise on how frequently you should be tested for STDs, but it is advisable to to get tested for syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea at least once a year. Get more information for our STD packages.

Is it normal to have painful sexual intercourse?

Infection or thinning of the vaginal walls might cause the situation. After your gynecologist performs the examination, he/she will walk you through various treatment options available.
